Having laid the groundwork with comeback single "Instone", perennial dancefloor slyers DK7 get ready for the release of their second album "The Great Hunger" with a slamming package of mixes of future LP favourite "Fashion Feelings".
First off is Lifelike, fresh from remix duties on Chromeo's latest, taking chunks of Mark O'Sullivan's evocative vocal and laying it over a classic sounding French-electronic disco backing, with solid builds leading up to an understated but climactic breakdown that's sure to kick butt on even the most recalcitrant of dancefloors.
New Irish kids on the block Arveene & Misk take a far more stripped back approach, letting the fat electro-flavoured groove do all the work, peppering it intermittently with neat breakdowns, wonky effects and sparing use of the vocal to produce a slamming mix. Arveene is definitely one to watch.
No need for introductions with Black Strobe, as the now solo Arnaud Rebotini keeps it dark, heavy and bleepy to produce a hypnotic winner. Gothenburg-based Tomas Almgren goes off on a pop/disco excursion, putting the full vocal on a Pet Shop Boys vs New Order backing track with rolling basslines and cool pads to finish off a true "something for everyone" package.
Written and Produced by Jesper Dahlbäck and Mark O'Sullivan
